It is the mission of the Horse Protection Society of North Carolina, Inc. to make the world a better place for horses through education, rescue, and rehabilitation. HPS provides a sanctuary of last resort for unwanted, neglected, and abused equines.
Founded in 1991 by Joan B. Benson and incorporated in 1999, HPS continues to reach out and to grow. HPS is a fully incorporated 501(c)3, approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization.

The Horse Protection Society maintains the first equine sanctuary in North Carolina to provide permanent retirement care for neglected equines. The sanctuary is available for people who can no longer afford to care for their equines.

The Horse Protection Society generally harbors 40-45 horses. Some are presently recovering from starvation and abuse. Many have completed rehabilitation and are awaiting new homes while others are permanent residents of the sanctuary.
The Horse Protection Society are building an indoor training arena to help us rehabilitate and recondition the rescued horses. This arena will be an integral part in ensuring our horses find homes and they need help! They are asking anyone who would like to help to please make a one-time donation of $10 to help them to complete this project.

Vanilla Yogurt and Honey Frozen Dog Treat | North Carolina Pet Photographer

With the 4th of July just a couple days away and the hot weather already here I started really early this year making Midnight her favorite Frozen Dog Treats.

Below is a quick delicious recipe your doggie is going to love.

INGREDIENTS:

6 oz Vanilla fat free Yogurt

1 teaspoon of real honey

DIRECTIONS:

Stir in the honey to the yogurt then pour into your favorite freezer mold.

You can use any silicone mode or ice cube tray. Dixie cups are also great to use.

Then freeze for about 4 hours or overnight.

The amount of individual treats you get will vary depending on what you use. I used 2 of the Chillin’ Bonz Frozen Treat Tray and was able to get 6 out of 8 big bones.

Looks who’s playing centerfield | North Carolina Pet Photographer

Midnight is just like her mom in that she loves to play baseball but one thing she isn’t like me is that she didn’t like playing 3rd base. Midnight prefers playing centerfield below are a few photos that I took one very early morning as we practiced before the hot weather set in and the rains came.

The photo above is Midnight at 3rd base trying to get a feel for the position but she kept getting heckled by son in the dug out aka my veranda. Look at her expression it’s priceless.

In this one after Midnight finally decided she had it with 3rd base she decided she rather happily play centerfield for her that’s where the action is. See what I mean.

I do secretly have to admit Midnight does make one great centerfielder.
