On January 13th our girl Midnight celebrated her 6th birthday.
I can’t believe she has been with us for 6 years it was like yesterday that we adopted her.
Below are a few photos of her day she had a princess theme party for after all she is the princess of this castle.

Since the beginning of December I knew I wanted to do a princess theme for Midnight with pinks and whites. I wanted to do inexpensively but cute so I had in my head to decorate the fireplace area for this year’s birthday. Every year I pick a different part of the house to decorate our birthdays for that year. I wanted to use balloons and streamers but the trick was to use a streamer that was different from the ones you get at the party stores. So I knew I was probably going to have to make it myself for I was inspired by Design Aglow with a blog post I read sometime ago on where they had the cutest streamers and I wanted to do something along those lines.
I went to Dollar Tree so see what I can come up with for they always have stuff I can use and found in the education section a package of party themed cut outs that the teachers use to decorate a bulletin board. To my surprise among all the cut outs were pink cakes and the light bulb went off. I bought 2 packs since each pack had 5 pink cakes. The rest I will be using for my hubby and sons birthdays.
I used a hole puncher punched 2 holes and strung the spool of curling ribbon that I already had at home.
The crown we found at Party City for $1.50 since the ones at the dollar store didn’t have a way for me to place it on Midnight’s head without her throwing it off her head.
The pastry cookies came in a box with the first 6 cookies decorated in frosting while the rest was plain it was as if we were meant to buy it. Midnight by the way loved it and could not get enough of them.
The 6 was done free hand by my son using the pack of colored foam you get at the dollar store. We used the hole puncher circles that you get after you hole punch the paper and glued them on to simulate like diamonds or pearls.
I wanted to decorate the mantle with balloons so I used 6 balloons as Midnight after all was turning six and it went with the whole thing I was going after so for a punch of color as well as contrast I used 3 white balloons and 3 pink balloons in alternating sequence to achieve the look I was after.
Well I hope you enjoyed the break down on how we did some of the decorations for Midnight’s 6th birthday.
Until next time, don’t forget to take time out to love up your pet.
